Security Cameras…YAY or NAY?
What are your thoughts on security cameras? Some say they are intrusive, but others like to ability to check on their home while they are away and the extra security they provide. With the recent events in the news from a high profile case, you might just change your mind.
We like the idea of video cameras around the exterior of the house because they allow us to see when that package we’re expecting was delivered, or see who may be knocking on the door when we aren’t home (or even when we are home).
When we were thinking about upgrading our previously outdated cameras, we purchased Eufy cameras on the recommendation of a family member. We have been pleased with the ease of set-up, the battery life (rechargeable), the audio and video quality, as well as the price. While some systems require you to purchase a monthly subscription to get many of the features you want, the Eufy base station (which hooks directly to your wifi router) stores audio and video for 30 days, and is accessible the the mobile phone app from anywhere.
The number of cameras you choose is up to you. The Eufy cameras are very easy to mount, position, and remove for charging. You can also choose the sensitivity settings on each camera so you don’t get a notification for every person walking down the sidewalk or driving down your street. You can also configure each camera for people, pets or all movement, and label each camera for it’s location. The cameras also have infrared night vision and a speaker/microphone to talk to people through the mobile app. Camera pairing and setup is all done through the mobile app.
One of the other really nice things about these cameras, other than the cost and feature set, is the fact that the mobile app is fast. When opening the app to view a camera live, it takes just a few seconds (of course depending on the speed of your internet connection). That’s what really makes these cameras useful.
